Horoscopes

Horoscopes are consulted by millions of people on a daily basis. Are you one of them?
Do you believe the stars?

There are different types of horoscopes. Let’s see some of them.

Western astrology
The roots of western astrology date back to ancient Greece. The Zodiac is an imaginary band in the sky and the constellations that lie along this band are known as the constellations of the zodiac. Since most of them represent animals, the ancient Greeks called this band zōdiakos kyklos, “circle of animals”.
Then Alexander the Great spread Greek culture and thought throughout his domain. During the Middle Ages, astrology became rather quiet as many Christian church leaders condemned astrology and astrologers as being heretical. But during the Renaissance astrology re-emerged.

The Chinese horoscope

It is said that, before leaving this world, Buddha invited all the animals of the world to a feast. Only twelve animals arrived. Buddha decided to name a year after each of them, in the order of their arrival. So we have the rat, the ox, the tiger, the rabbit, the dragon, the snake, the horse, the sheep, the monkey, the rooster, the dog and the pig. Each year in this twelve-year cycle has now a symbolic animal, whose characteristics influence the world events and the personality and fate of everyone born in that year.

Celtic tree astrology

The Celtic Zodiac is based on the cycle of the moon with the year divided into 13 lunar months, each associated with a tree sacred to the druids. The druids believed the human race originally descended from trees. Each tree had particular magical qualities.
